Hello! Thank you so much for your wonderful entries into the giveaway. It's so nice, reading all the different things you do with a special other. I'd like to do a post on it one day!
Now, as promised for the loooongest time, here is how I set my pin curls – or, at least, how I was setting them until very recently, on my longer hair. It is a very easy set to do, and I found it worked especially well for creating 1940's hair styles, and for other updos, too.
I still haven't replaced my camera yet, so: photobooth pictures! I think they will work well enough. For now they'll have to do!
First of all, I was often asked what my hair was like when it wasn't set, how long it was, and what kind of cut I had. This is how it looks the day after I washed it and let it dry naturally and then had it up in a bun all day; straight! Super straight. It was cut in a U shape with the longest bit in the middle of my back, with long layers. Ignore the colours; the sun was setting and shining through the window when I took these, so that's what those light bits are! Also, I am looking to the side a bit, in that photo from the back, and my hair was symmetrical. Or at least I hope it was..! No, it was. It definitely was.

And this is how I would put the pin curls in. I always put the five around my face in the same direction, as you can see! The rest don't matter so much. I would put in around 8 more, in any direction. The only important thing to make sure you do is to tuck the ends in the curl! Easy!

And then I sleep in them. Good night!

The next morning, I get dressed, do my makeup, and then take out the pin curls. When they first come out they look like this: terrible! This particular set isn't great, because I did it on two day old hair; my hair is naturally very "silky" and "glossy" (uh, read "greasy" after day one) so it wasn't as bouncy or as fluffy as usual. But you still get the idea. The curls need brushing out, which doesn't take too long. Just keep brushing until you are happy. There are some great tutorial vids on youtube, so do have a search if you need!

And that is it! Speaking of youtube, I filmed a couple of tutorials for you with my longer red hair, as promised. One is for victory rolls, and the other is for the updo from
here and
here. Um, I didn't realise I had a 15 minute time limit, and on both I've run over by about 30 seconds, so I am hacking away to get them down short enough! Of course, in the future, I'd like to do them again with a better camera and not photobooth (soon!) but I think they are good enough for now. I'll get them up very soon!
I hope this helped! Please let me know if you have any questions. I am now working on perfecting the set for my much shorter hair. It's a challenge, but I love the new length! See you soon! xxxxxxxx
