winter, vintage furniture and all the little things

Woah, Sunday again! I am having a great weekend and I hope you are too. I have been out for dinner, ice skating, on a road trip, had a long, fancy and delicious lunch – all before Sunday! I will blog about some of this soon. First, here is more of my first month of winter as seen with my instagram, laneway_esme. It's been amazing so far and I don't want it to fly by too quickly. There are so many things I want to do still. Soon!

First we have – appropriately – the first of our winter weather proper. Lots of cold, rainy, dark days. I liked how the rain looked like blossoms on this bare tree. A week or so before, we got a new dinner table and chair set, a 1950's one, but round, which I've never seen before. The chairs are a deep sea blue-green and I love them. Babycat loves her vantage point on the new shelves and does her monorail pose.

Going out on a beautiful day wearing this vintage dress. And some nice flowers for the table, which is looking a little lonely in its spot. We want a great print to put on the wall there, and maybe a coffee set for the table itself... although Mrs Bebecat would knock it over every day. So maybe not. She was surprisingly non-nommy with these flowers, though. Progress.

I love having dinner on the new table. I'm still craving raw spinach (no, I don't know why either) and, for the sake of balance, followed this up with a homemade apple crumble and yogurt. I love these little vintage bowls. I found them at an opshop, and the doily is another op shopped vintage find.

I was having a phase of wanting to wear pastel nail colours, especially a pastel yellow. I don't have the perfect soft sunshine shade, so chose from these instead. I think the pale lilac is my favourite. It goes well with my vintage pale yellow dress, which has the most amazing beading detail. It has some amazing shoulder buttoning detail, too, which makes it really hard to put on by myself!

I walk past some really pretty houses on my way to work. I love ivy! I'd love to have it everywhere, indoors and out. Hot Toddys are good when you have a cold, as is some light reading. I collect (well, I have three) vintage beauty books, and this one is the oldest. I must share some of it with you sometime – just promise not to follow all of it! Arsenic gets a mention..! And I seem to have had yellow on my mind, as this last outfit shows. I was in a very good mood as you can see! I really like wearing my hair up and think some more height might have to happen soon.
