I hope you are having a great weekend! This is what I wore yesterday, for a coldish but brilliant Saturday when John and I managed to get lots of things done, including finding the perfect coffee table. I had an inkling we'd find it this weekend, and almost called it on twitter – now I think I should have! This is my favourite early 1960's wool plaid dress, well ok it is my only early 1960's wool plaid dress, but I love the soft wool (although do wear a slip with it; years of wearing a wool kilt – the world's ugliest wool kilt – as part of my school uniform scarred me for life and left me with memories of itchy legs!), the colours (there's an unexpected touch of green in amongst the blue, a tiny stripe!), and the bodice detail finished off with the bow. It is so warm and soft to wear, and really snuggly. I am tempted to lengthen it a little, though. It has several inches to do so, but the hem is currently finished nicely with ribbon and I don't know if I fancy unpicking all that and re-sewing it with boring old looping stitches. I do know I'll wear this dress a lot over winter so I'll see how I feel about it further down the line!
I woke up with the biggest curliest hair and decided to go with it – I thought it was going to rain and that my curls would go within the hour, but I was lucky and so they stayed big all day. Big hair, my favourite thing. Really, it is. Also in preparation for the rain, I wore my asos cape (that I got from an op shop, yays) as it has a hood; good for keeping hair dry and for mysterious posing, both excellent qualities for a cape to have.
Babycat also managed to fit a lot in to her day, starting with sleeping in my hat box and finishing with snoozing in my hat box. I don't know how she does it. I can barely keep up.
THanks to John for snapping me! Oh, and thanks to YOU very much for the feedback on the hair tutorial question. I will make a video with talking (!) (editing nightmare!) but it will have to wait a bit. I've cut my thumb right where I open up hair pins and have to use my other hand to put them in, which takes me ages and would make the video very long and tedious to watch! I will do one as soon as I can. Enjoy the rest of your weekend. Kisses!
