On Saturday, I had a nice late breakfast at home (my best avocado, as you saw here) and then took it pretty easy until dinner with some friends later in the evening – I was still feeling a bit tired getting over my cold. I thought it would be the perfect time to see how these vials work.
The vials are designed for special occasions, and are meant to illuminate the complexion, plump out fine lines and ensure long lasting makeup. Well, that all sounds pretty good to me! My special occasion for the evening was my friend and ex-neighbour moving out of her old flat – next door to our old flat! – into her new one, which is just down the road from us! We were neighbours for years and, along with a fourth neighbour in that same block, we had one of our regular dinners, but this time it was a goodbye one! Well, a goodbyeone, soon to be followed with a hello dinner, of course. Welcome to the neighbourhood, Miss J!
So, I did my makeup early that afternoon, as I thought this would be a perfect way to see if it lasted late into the night, just as our dinners always do.
I did my usual makeup, and you can see what foundation I am using at the moment here. I usually use sunscreen rather than primer under my foundation – you can’t go outside in the daytime without factor 30 here, there’s just no way – but as I was going to be safe indoors till sundown, I skipped it. Instead, I used one of the Guinot vials.
They come in tiny glass (I think?) bottles, or vials, really – obviously! – and I do quite like the packaging; very impressive looking. There are two vials in the box, which you can see in the top pic. The instructions are to apply the product to a cleansed face, and then follow with makeup immediately. Face washed and ready to go, I won’t lie: I had a bit of a freakout! How on earth was I going to open the vial? I had visions of massaging tiny shards of glass into my face, getting glass in my eyes… I re-read the instructions, and, having tentatively tapped at the vial with big metal hair clips at arms length, face screwed up and turned away with no success, I tried actually following those instructions and simply snapped off the tip of the vial! It was, of course, really easy, no sharp edges and no splinters and basically I’d been in a tizz about absolutely nothing. Read the instructions and follow them… they might just work!
I then used my fingers to apply the clear liquid. I found that it went a long way, and used just over a third of the bottle, as this was plenty to cover my face. I am always a little nervous about using new products as I have quite sensitive skin, and have sometimes reacted to the most innocent-seeming things. However, this went really well, with no adverse reactions, and my makeup went on beautifully!
Did it work?
Well, having just turned 31 I know I should be thinking about fine lines, but I can’t seem to keep my mind on mine… I am sure I have some but my skin seems to be doing pretty well! My foundation went on very smoothly, and yes, it did last all day and night – it was as perfect at 1am as when I applied it many hours earlier. It kept my makeup fresh and very well hydrated, which is something that can be a problem for me as my skin gets dry from time to time. These vials kept my foundation immaculate. Excellent!
