Today was the first day of Spring! While I feel like winter went by way too quickly, it is a beautiful time now here in Melbourne. Despite all the sunshine I got out on the wrong side of bed and felt tired and grumpy. I decided that bright colours were one way to counter this. Red lipstick, helps, too! I wore a vintage floral dress in cheerful oranges and yellows and greens. It feels great to be able to wear these again without too many layers, although it definitely isn't warm yet. I needed my ooooolllld leather jacket, and a topshop jumper, and these black touches were finished off with my black Gorman shoes.
Such good weather; blue skies and sunshine but cold air. John and I headed to one of our all time favourite Melbourne cafes, Mixed Business, for coffee and breakfast. Bees were busy getting breakfast (or lunch, by that time) too.
We got there pretty late (big sleep in) so it was really busy. We were happy to wait outside with coffees for a bit.
But the girl in the flower shop next door said we looked like weirdos out there (hehe) and invited us in. It's always so beautiful in there.
The wait wasn't too long, and we finished our coffees at our table next to cherry blossoms. I'd been craving berries, so the berry smoothie hit the spot. It hit my dress, too. The joy of colourful prints – they hide everything!
Then we caught the train into the city so I could pick up my media pass for Fashion Week. I'm really looking forward to going to the shows – and I promise to share lots of pics with you! The city looked amazing today; the light was fantastic. We picked up some cherry blossoms for the house on the way home. And, that's it! I'm completely exhausted for some reason, so I'm resting up to get ready for a big week next week. I'm also looking forward to eating more berries, and planning what to wear, but I have a good idea for some days already: a vintage (surprise!) pink dress, a 1980's floral peplum dress, and perhaps a peter pan collar or two... we'll see!
